This week we started our 12 week back squat cycle, and I couldn't be more pumped! Austin Esplin, our head trainer, has designed a 24-session cycle (twice a week) that is meant to dial in your squat and increase your strength and power. By the end of the cycle (come January) we'll retest our 1 rep max and you'll be amazed at your improvement.
Taking part in this gym-wide effort isn't just to improve your back squats. Your power, explosion, and longevity will ALL improve just by working through this. You'll jump higher, pull harder, move faster, and lift heavier because the core muscle groups for all of your movements will be that much stronger. Please use SugarWOD to track your results!
As I mentioned, Monday and Friday are the official days when our classes use the first 15 mins after warmup to do these exercises. However, if you miss a day or cannot make it, don't worry! You can come to literally any other class and substitute out that day's strength portion for the back squat. Even if you need to come after hours or on Saturday, I'll get your a code so you can make that possible.
This is meant to be a gym effort - because it's a lot more fun working on a common goal together. And with Austin's training (which we can now call a champion-level course) we're going to reach it. I guarantee if you make the effort to do these workouts twice a week. You WILL see improvement. And if you're now just joining us, or were out of the loop for a while, don't worry! It's never too late to jump back in enjoy the fruits of hard effort combined with direction.
