Ron Matheson
Coach

Ronnie is an outdoor and family enthusiast. He spends his free time coaching his son’s soccer teams, mountain biking, camping and spending time with his wife and four kids. Ronnie played soccer his whole life, competitively, High School, Utah Traveling Olympic Development Team and local for USU Club. He loves to stay active in his community, faith and family. Ronnie’s gym motto is “form before weight, movement before speed”. Don’t let this fool you, Ronnie is quite competitive and loves to help others achieve their goals.

Shelley Edwards
Coach

Shelley is the proud mother of three and has always enjoyed an active lifestyle. She played volleyball in high school and now spends time mountain biking and running when the weather allows. With a degree in Elementary Education, Shelley has demonstrated that she can literally teach anyone no matter their skill level!

Andre Scholes
Coach

Andre acquired his B.S. in Exercise Science in 2016 and became a Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2019. He is experienced in barbell exercises and CSCS as for 2021. His exercise regimen allows him to do his favorite activities of hunting, hiking, and fishing with his wife and two kids.

Ari Meek
Coach

Ari has been swimming competitively since age 5 and has been weightlifting since age 14. A thoroughly accomplished athlete, Ari has since joined the CrossFit and attained her Level 1 CrossFit certification. In her spare time, she loves hiking, backpacking, and exploring the outdoors. Currently Ari attends USU where she is pursuing a degree in psychology.

Wade "Whammy" Rose
Coach

Wade is a Cache Valley raised kid and couldn’t be more grateful for his community. He’s been doing CrossFit for two years, coaching just under a year. Wade got bored of running alone on long roads and decided to try United! He loves to entertain his friends at the gym and his biggest accomplishment to date is being Hambone’s mentor.

Hayden "Hambone" Nix
Coach

Hayden is a hometown boy who grew up in Smithfield. He is newer to the CrossFit world and began 9 months ago. Being a part of the community and having a group of people to consistently motivate him is what kept him coming back for more. Outside of the gym, Hayden likes to snowboard, fly fish and golf. Fun fact: his name is “Haaaaaambone”

Greg Ostermiller
Coach

Greg has been playing sports his whole life, enjoying lacrosse, trail running, and Spartan races. He was introduced to Crossfit by his sister 7 years ago, taking to it instantly, and coached intermittently through those 7 years. He loves gymnastic movements and the feeling of catching that perfect snatch. When he isn’t hitting it hard at the gym, he enjoys being outside playing and spending time with his wife and two little girls.

Austin Esplin
Head Trainer / Coach

Austin grew up playing baseball and eventually played collegiate baseball for Dawson Community College and the U of U. After his 4 years, Austin found competition in CrossFit and has been hooked ever since. He has been doing CrossFit for 7 years and coaching for 6. He has his CF-L1 certification and loves to compete. When Austin is not at the gym, he enjoys spending time with his family and new son.

Nate Ruben
Owner / Coach

Nate discovered CrossFit in 2020 when he was looking for something to get himself back into shape. Father of six, he didn't want to get left behind physically while his kids were getting more active. In his younger days, Nate was a competitive swimmer since age 10 but has since preferred to not smell like chlorine every day. Now he has found purpose in exercising every morning and pushing himself a little further each time.
